Leah Calvert's Daughter: 'Teen Mom 2' Star And Corey Simms Get Bad News About Ali's Medical Bills
Leah Calvert received some bad news during the filming of Teen Mom 2 season 5B.
As her daughter, Ali Simms, continued to struggle with her Titin muscular dystrophy, Calvert and her ex-husband, Corey Simms, were dealt with disappointing news from their insurance company regarding Ali's ongoing medical bills.
"We got a letter today about the insurance company. It's not good, let's put it that way," Simms revealed to Calvert during a sneak peek at tonight's new episode, via Wetpaint Entertainment.
Since Ali's birth, Calvert and Simms have been dealing with medical bills from doctors, therapists and specialists, and as time goes on, things are only getting harder -- starting with their insurance's failure to pay for Ali's wheelchair.
In the letter from their insurance company, Calvert and Simms were informed that because Ali's wheelchair (which cost an estimated $20,000, according to Wetpaint) isn't completely necessary, they weren't going to be paying for it.
Although the chair may not be required at this point in Ali's disease, doctors had previously revealed to Calvert and Simms that she would eventually need to be in a wheelchair full-time because of her weakening muscles.
"The wheelchair thing is hard, but she just feels so free,” Leah says. “ It's not about binding her down to it, I want her to feel that freedom. If sissy's out running and she's tired out, she can get in it and just go. We have to put our own feelings aside."
Teen Mom 2 airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on MTV.
