Tamra Barney Spinoff 2014: 'RHOC' Star Denies Being Approached By Bravo For Her Own Series
Tamra Barney claims she was never approached about a spinoff.
For weeks, it has been reported that Barney's gym, CUT Fitness, would be the setting of a new Real Housewives spinoff, but Barney claims there is no truth to the rumor.
"Let me crush a stupid rumor that won't go away," Barney wrote on Facebook on June 9. "I was NEVER asked to do a spinoff show! A blogger wrote a story stating a few of the OC housewives were getting spinoff shows (me, Lizzy, Vicki). But it was a lie!!!!! No one has been offered a spinoff!"
Last month, LALATE reported that Barney would be getting her own Vanderpump Rules-style spinoff in an effort to generate more buzz around The Real Housewives of Orange County. The site claimed Bravo was hoping to recreate the success of Vanderpump Rules with one of the stars of Orange County—just as they did with Lisa Vanderpump in Beverly Hills.
The alleged spinoff was said to have been based at Barney's Orange County gym, CUT Fitness, and would follow the lives of her staff and gym attendees.
Barney continued, "It is a lot of work to hold your own show and you need to have a lot going on in your life."
In an episode of Watch What Happened Live, which aired last week, Real Housewives creator Andy Cohen also shot down rumors of a CUT Fitness spinoff, telling fans, "Someone needs to be going through a serious life transition that will kind of take them out of it. They have to be able to hold their own for an hour—or a half hour. It’s a lot of time.”
