Emily Maynard Wedding 2014: 'Bachelorette' Star Marries Tyler Johnson
Emily Maynard married Tyler Johnson over the weekend at his family's farm.
After proclaiming her third engagement would be her last just weeks ago, the former Bachelorette star married Johnson in a secret ceremony in North Carolina among 200 of their closest family and friends. Days later, details of the couple's wedding are being revealed.
"At the Saturday event, the blushing 28-year-old bride, and mother of an 8-year-old girl, wore a strapless white ball gown with a floral, pale pink-toned bodice and satin sash and wore her blonde hair in a gorgeous, tousled half-updo," E! News reported on June 8. "And instead of squeezing her feet into uncomfortable pumps or sandals, she opted for cowboy boots—a known wedding trend, especially for rustic ceremonies and receptions."
Maynard and Johnson met years ago at church, just before Maynard began filming on her season of ABC's The Bachelorette. During the show, Maynard became engaged to contestant Jef Holm, but the pair parted ways months later. Prior to her stint on The Bachelorette, Maynard had been chosen and proposed to by Bachelor Brad Womack. That engagement also ended months after the show had wrapped. Once Maynard was done with reality TV, she and Johnson met up once again, and in Jan. 2014, they became engaged.
On Saturday, Maynard and Johnson disguised their wedding as an engagement party but once chairs were arranged in a way which created an aisle, guests began to realize that the event was actually the couple's wedding. A short time later, Maynard emerged on the arm of her father.
Following the ceremony, a live country band provided the music for a Southern-inspired reception, which included a buffet of fried chicken, shrimps, scalloped potatoes and pulled pork.
