It has been one year since Paris Jackson's attempted suicide, and according to a recent report, she's doing much better.

As Jackson remains in a boarding school in Utah, a source close to her is speaking out, revealing the daughter of the late pop star, Michael Jackson, is progressing nicely after attempting to take her own life last June.

"She is doing a lot better," the source revealed to E! News on June 5. "She is getting back to normal. I think she has made quite a bit of progress over the past year."

On June 5, 2013, just weeks before the fourth anniversary of her father's death, Jackson attempted suicide by swallowing 20 Motrin PM and cutting her wrist with a kitchen knife. Prior to Jackson's attempt, she reportedly called a suicide hotline and wrote a suicide note.

After being transported to the Children's Hospital in L.A., Jackson was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold for 72 hours. Then, she was moved to the UCLA medical center for further evaluation and eventually sent to a boarding school in Utah.

Ever since, Jackson has been living in Utah, but was able to fly to Hawaii for the holidays, where she spent time with her brother, Prince. She also flew to Los Angeles to see her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, before returning to Utah.

"Utah has been exactly what she needed to get better," the source says. "There have been recent discussions on when she could come back and some talk as early as this summer or later this year, but everyone wants to make sure she is ready and that can be an evolving situation."
