Halle Berry Second Pregnancy: Actress Speaks Of "Premenopausal" And "Geriatric" Pregnancy
Halle Berry reportedly opened up about her second pregnancy in a new interview with Ellen Degeneres.
During a taping of The Ellen Degeneres Show, Berry spoke candidly about how her daughter's prayers for a sibling resulted in her getting pregnant at 47.
"Only her prayers could have done this," the actress told DeGeneres, according to an Us Weekly report, of six-year-old Nahla. "I didn’t think it was possible at my age, honestly. They call it a geriatric pregnancy. I was, you know, on my way. This is probably way TMI, but I was kinda premenopausal, so to have this happen was huge."
During a five-year relationship with model Gabriel Aubry, whom she met on the set of a Versace photo shoot, Berry welcomed her first child, daughter Nahla. Two years after Nahla's arrival, the pair announced they had separated. Months later, Berry began dating now-husband Olivier Martinez, and on July 13, 2013, they were married.
Although Berry didn't think she and Martinez would have a child of their own, they welcomed son, Maceo, shortly after they wed on Oct. 5, 2013. Early in the pregnancy, Berry expressed her shock at becoming pregnant during an interview with CNN, via PEOPLE Magazine, calling her second pregnancy the "biggest surprise" of her life.
Also speaking to Degeneres, Berry explained how her experiences with her son have already been much different than her experiences with daughter, Nahla.
"There’s a difference between boys and girls," Berry said. "When I would put Nahla on the boob she would go [light sucking] a nice little girly suck. With him, he’s like sucking the life out of me!"
