Sonja Morgan On 'RHONY' Season Six: Morgan Speaks Of Cast Drama, Kristen Taekman (Exclusive)
Sonja Morgan is half-way through the sixth season of The Real Housewives of New York City and opening up about how the cast has evolved.
During Thursday's NBC Upfront in New York City, Morgan spoke with Celebeat about the craziness of season six and gave her thoughts on the newest addition to the cast, Kristen Taekman.
"Well, I warned you guys! It has been a total 180," Morgan told Celebeat on the red carpet. "The new girls that came on last year, you thought they really had it all together. This year, the tops came off, the lids went—legs went flying as well. It surprised me because they were so calm and collected last year, but I’m happy that we all gelled and bonded."
Following season four, four housewives, including Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop, were axed from the series. As a result, Bravo added three new wives, Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher, for season five. For the most part, the women seemed quite normal and while Thomson did have an ongoing feud with Ramona Singer, as did Drescher, there weren't too many fireworks. However, that hasn't been the case throughout the first half of season six.
In addition to Radziwill and Drescher coming to blows over Drescher's allegations of Radziwill using a ghostwriter (and Thomson getting in on the action during a trip to LuAnn de Lesseps' Hamptons home), Singer engaged in a heated feud with new housewife, Kristen Taekman, which resulted in her throwing a glass of Champagne at Taekman while out on the lake.
Despite all the shocking drama, Morgan is glad to be a housewife.
"I am happy that Bravo has brought me all these opportunities, these are high-class problems," she explained. "I have a house. I’m lucky to have a house, so many people don’t. I have a job."
Morgan also addressed the recent controversy involving her alleged financial situation -- which many of her co-stars chose to address on a recent episode of the show.
"All these concernings come from the girls, but I don’t know that they are really concerned," Morgan admitted. "They should be more concerned with themselves. I’m doing just fine."
As for the newest housewife on the block, Taekman, Morgan appeared to have her doubts when it came to Taekman's intensions. When asked about the new star, Morgan said that she felt Taekman was "looking for a place on camera" and "looking for attention."
"I know there’s definitely some pot stirring," she added. "I like to stir the drink, not the pot."
The Real Housewives of New York season six airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
