The New Kids On The Block Reality Show: 'Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block' To Air On TVGN
The New Kids On The Block will reportedly soon enter the world of reality television.
This week, the TV Guide Network announced that they have ordered a set of shows related to the band, including a reality show, casting special and singing competition series.
"The TV Guide Network has ordered a new reality show starring the famous '90s boy band and their fans," E! News announced on April 30. "'Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block' is an eight-episode series that will feature die-hard NKOTB fans on a week-long cruise with Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and the newly engaged Donnie Wahlberg."
The New Kids On The Block are an American boy band, assembled in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr. After five albums and several awards, the band broke up in 1994. In the years following, there were multiple attempts at getting the guys back together, but each were unsuccessful -- until 2007. At that point, the five men secretly reunited and recorded their sixth album, The Block, which was released in Sept. 2008. They also embarked on a new tour. Since then, the group have continued to travel, selling out concerts everywhere, including three cruise concerts in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
The New Kids On The Block's upcoming reality show will focus on the group's June 2014 cruise from New York City to Bermuda, which takes place shortly after the guys return home from their European tour.
TVGN also ordered a fan casting special for Rock This Boat: NKOTB and the singing competition Sing It On (working title), which is described as "the real-life Pitch Perfect."
