Gwen Stefani Joins 'The Voice' As Judge For Show's Upcoming Seventh Season
Gwen Stefani has reportedly signed on to be a judge on the upcoming season of The Voice.
On Friday, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that Stefani's "contract is now done."
"Stefani will fill a vacancy left by pregnant judge Christina Aguilera, during the reality series' upcoming [seventh] season, which starts filming in June," the magazine reported.
Following Aguilera's pregnancy news, which was announced in February, NBC began searching for a replacement. Since Aguilera would be eight or nine months pregnant by the time the show was in its battle rounds, it didn't make sense to have return. Plus, according to TMZ, the singer hasn't had the easiest pregnancy and felt it was best to opt out.
TMZ also reported Stefani's contract ias only for one season, as Aguilera is expected to return to the show for season eight.
Also coming aboard the show for season seven is Pharrell Williams. His addition to the show was announced on March 31, 2014.
"I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to 'The Voice' family, and this time ... as a coach," The Voice's executive producer Mark Burnett said at the time. "Continuing in 'The Voice' tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly."
The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.
