Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino And Family Begin Filming His New TV Guide Network Reality Show 'The Sorrentinos'
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is heading back to reality TV.
Two years after saying "goodbye" to Jersey Shore, Sorrentino has landed a new reality show on the TV Guide Network which will follow him and several members of his family.
"It's about the family, and he is just part of the family now," a Sorrentino pal revealed to In Touch Weekly on April 15. "It's about his brother Marc, going out and being a DJ. His sister, who is getting married, the mother, the brothers, it's more of a family-style show. Not a fall-down-and-get-drunk show."
During the filming of Jersey Shore, Sorrentino got caught up in a nasty addiction to painkillers which sent him to rehab at Utah's Cirque Lodge in March 2012. One month later, he returned home, and told fans he was "stronger and better than ever."
That summer, Sorrentino returned to The Shore where he and his MTV co-stars filmed the sixth and final season of Jersey Shore. Throughout filming, Sorrentino remained focused on his sobriety and has continued to do so ever since.
On the upcoming series, Sorrentino's sobriety and fight to stay clean will be discussed.
"It's all part of it-it's about the Sorrentinos," the friend said. "The shooting started Friday at a club in Long Island with his brother DJ. And you know, Sitch wasn't supposed to be there, but you know he popped in late... so the cameras could catch the excitement."
The Sorrentinos is expected to premiere this summer on the TV Guide Network.
