Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Wedding News: Residency Requirements Lead To Marriage Crisis

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be forced to live in France ahead of their upcoming wedding.

In a new report, it has been revealed that in order to be legally married in France, Kardashian and West are required to live in the country for at least 40 days prior to the ceremony.

“Kim and Kanye were unaware until recently that France required a residency requirement prior to the marriage. Kanye has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn’t live there full-time,” a source explained to Radar Online on April 8.

This may explain why West's Yeezus tour was recently rescheduled. Last week, West announced he was postponing his Australian tour, which was scheduled for the weeks leading up to his and Kardashian's wedding, until the fall.

At the time of the announcement, West claimed he wanted to give himself more time to work on his album, but now, it is suspected that he made the change in order to meet France's marriage requirements.

Of the French laws, the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. explained, "All marriages must be performed by a French civil authority before any religious ceremony takes place. The mayor can authorize the deputy mayor or a city councilor to perform the ceremony in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage. These requirements can not be waived."

Kardashian and West's wedding is scheduled to take place on May 24 in Paris, France, and while it has been said that the wedding will be filmed for E! as part of a Keeping Up With The Kardashians special, that has yet to be confirmed.
