'Dancing With The Stars' Danica McKellar Reveals Her Stay-Fit Plan
Danica McKellar is in great shape -- but it doesn't come easy. The former child star works hard at her figure both in the kitchen and in the ballroom.
As she competes for the mirror ball trophy on Dancing With The Stars, McKellar has been sticking to a strict diet, which eliminates gluten, dairy, and sugar.
"I don't eat gluten, I don't eat dairy, I don't eat sugar really, and the only thing I drink is water," McKellar, 39, told reporters behind-the-scenes of the dancing competition series. "I eat really, really clean. I'm very strict."
However, just because she's strict doesn't mean she's deprived. In fact, McKellar claims she eats plenty.
"I eat a lot of food, but it's all brown rice and vegetables and lean meats and things like that," she explained.
McKellar's gig on Dancing With The Stars is extremely physically demanding, so when it comes to eating, she is sure to eat foods which will give her energy -- not slow her down -- especially since she isn't used to such a cardio-based activity.
"I don't do any kind of exercise regularly except for yoga and things that are slow," she said.
Still, McKellar admits her body has taken a beating throughout the first few weeks of competition, but luckily, she has found a good remedy for the pain.
"I've been taking ice baths every single night," she said. "Hot shower, ice bath – I've been going back and forth between the two."
