David Cassidy Rehab Enters Following DUI Arrest
David Cassidy has been ordered into rehab following his Jan. 2014 DUI arrest.
On Monday, two months after receiving the charge, Cassidy plead no contest and was ordered to enroll in a 90-day live-in treatment for alcohol abuse.
"Cassidy was busted for DUI in L.A. back in January -- his third DUI arrest since 2010. Cassidy pled no contest to the DUI charge Monday," TMZ reported on March 24. "In addition to rehab, Cassidy was also sentenced to 60 months probation. He must also complete a 9-month alcohol program."
Because Cassidy had enrolled in rehab last month, the judge awarded him credit for his time in the facility. "The judge will be giving him credit for the 102 days he's served," TMZ stated.
In early April, Cassidy will be transitioning from the live-in rehab where he began treatment into an outpatient program in which he will be closely monitored by a sober coach.
Speaking to TMZ on Monday, Cassidy's rep assured fans, "David is very committed to his sobriety."
On Feb. 11, 2014, Cassidy's wife, Sue, filed for divorce after 23 years of marriage and one child together, son Beau, 23. At the time, she told TMZ, "This has been looming for some time," but added, "I am truly heartbroken that our marriage is ending."
Cassidy was arrested and charged with his first DUI on Nov. 3, 2010. He second arrest took place on Aug. 21, 2013, and his third on Jan. 10, 2014.
