Enrique Iglesias Explains Why He Won't Marry Anna Kournikova
Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova may be committed, but they aren't planning to get married.
Iglesias and Kournikova have been together for over a decade, but according to Iglesias, marriage is not in their future and won't make them any happier than they already are.
"I'm not against marriage, not at all," Iglesias told Rita Braver during an interview with CBS Sunday, which will air on March 16. "But when you've been with someone for such a long time, I don't think it's going to make—bring us closer together. I don't think it's going to...make us any happier."
Igelsias and Kournikova met in 2001 when Kournikova appeared in Iglesias' music video for his single, "Escape." Right away, they hit it off. "She was just the coolest girl in the world to me," Iglesias recalled. "And we just, we got along."
While the pair won't be tying the knot, they have invested in a property together. In 20011, it was reported that the two would be building a $20 million home on a private island in Miami beach.
Also in 2011, Kournikova, who has infamously declined to either confirm or deny any of her relationships, opened up about being in a long-term committed relationship.
"I believe in commitment. I believe in being open and trusting each other and respecting each other completely," she said at the time, also adding that she'd love to have kids one day. "I absolutely want to have children, whether I have my own or adopt. I love taking care of people."
