Bode Miller Injures Knee, Won't Compete In Final Skiing Event At The 2014 Olympic Games

Bode Miller has injured his knee and will be unable to complete in the final skiing event at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

"[Miller] says he will not race this week's #slalom but will race the rest of the World Cup season," read an announcement made by the US Ski Team on Twitter on Feb. 19.

After becoming the oldest skiier to take home a Winter Olympics medal when he placed third in Sunday's super-G, Miller injured his surgically repaired left knee. The incident happened during Wednesday's giant slalom.

On Twitter, a disappointed Miller addressed fans. "I'm bummed I'm out for the slalom, I wanted a miracle," he wrote. "Thank you all for the amazing support, it's been incredible."

Also on Sunday, Miller won his sixth medal, which is the "second-highest total for a male skier and ties speedskater Bonnie Blair as the second most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian in any sport," according to E! News. Short track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno holds the record as most decorated with eight total medals.

Following Sunday's big win, Miller's interview with NBC reporter Christin Cooper caused some controversy. After completing the course and winning the bronze medal, Miller spoke with Cooper. Already in tears because of his emotional performance, Miller full-on broke down when Cooper asked him about his late brother, Chelon, who died last April of a reported seizure. After being asked several questions about Chelon, Miller fell to his knees, crying as he rested on a fence.

Immediately following the interview, Cooper was accused of "making him cry." However, Miller later defended her online, saying that her intensions were good.

"I appreciate everyone sticking up for me," Miller tweeted. "Please be gentle w christin cooper, it was crazy emotional and not all her fault. #heatofthemoment. My emotions were very raw, she asked the questions that every interviewer would have, pushing is part of it, she wasnt trying to cause pain."
