Jessica Simpson Was 'Insecure,' Couldn't Believe How Much She Weighed After Daughter's Birth
Jessica Simpson may have gained a reported 50 pounds during her first pregnancy, but after joining Weight Watchers, the pop star and designer was able to get her body back down to size -- and just in time for her upcoming wedding. In a series of new commercials, Simpson discussed her weight struggles and how she got back on track.
“I was so insecure,” Simpson revealed in one of the commercials for Weight Watchers. “I couldn’t even believe what I weighed. I don’t think that I ever expected myself to see the numbers that I have seen on the scale."
After giving birth, Simpson struggled with losing her baby weight, and as she was working hard to get her body back, she discovered that she was pregnant, yet again.
"It was hard to suppress it [the second time around]. I knew that I would be gaining the weight back, so I didn’t really think about it that much,” Simpson said.
However, although she wasn't stressing about gaining the weight back, she did take steps to ensure she didn't put on as much weight with her second pregnancy as she did with her first. And in addition to cardio exercises, she also made sure to have a healthy diet, which would allow her to provide better nutrients to the baby, as well as limit her weight gain to a more reasonable amount.
“I went on walks and I worked out throughout my second pregnancy,” she said on Good Morning America on Tues., Feb. 18.
As for her diet, Simpson said, “For breakfast, I’m an oatmeal girl. Lunch, I do bread, so I will have like a sandwich or something. But, for dinner, I try and keep it super clean.”
While looking good and being healthy is certainly a motivator for Simpson to stay on top of her diet and exercise routine, she also has the added pressure of being in tip-top shape for her upcoming wedding to fiance Eric Johnson.
“I have a date. I’m super excited,” she revealed. “It’ll be soon.”
