Kail Lowry Reveals Details Of Her Upcoming Book 'Pride Over Pity'
Kail Lowry isn't holding back when it comes to her new book. In the soon-to-be-released novel, Pride Over Pity, the Teen Mom 2 star discusses past issues, including addiction, rape and abandonment, and gives fans an inside look at what happened before the MTV cameras came into the picture.
“It’ll be NOTHING like Farrah’s [book] as far as editing goes. We’ve put a lot of work into this over the last couple of years and I think you will be very surprised by it,” Lowry revealed to Radar Online on Feb. 13. “There are a lot of things in it involving addiction, rape, being abandoned by my dad and tons of things in between. My life before the cameras and where I want things to go from here. Hopefully you guys will understand things a little better after reading it!”
The majority of the book is based on Lowry's childhood, during which she struggled with the dynamic between her and her mother, who was an addict.
“Imagine yourself growing up with a ‘parent’ struggling with addiction, boyfriend hopping and can’t hold a steady job,” Lowry wrote in 2012. “Since I was 8 years old, I was the parent.”
Because her mother didn't provide her with a stable environment growing up, Lowry often felt that she needed to be the caretaker, and took on that role, at times. Despite the time being extremely difficult, as it would have been for any child, Lowry says she's much stronger now.
“I’ve forgiven my mom for not being there,” Lowry explained, “but I’ve also become stronger. Strong enough to know when I need to know when I need to leave certain people out of my life. I’ve already forgiven my mother for what has already been done. But I were to have a relationship with her, how many more times would I have to be hurt & let down & forgive her again and again?”
Lowry added that she's "been through hell & back with my mom,” and that she hasn’t spoken to her since 2010.
Although Lowry's childhood was devastating, she had come out of it a strong woman and one who is determined to have a family nothing like the one she was subjected to -- and she's doing an amazing job. Not only is Lowry happily married, she also has two small children and recently purchased a home. By all accounts, she seems to be living the dream. She's even planning to go back to college and possibly become a host one day.
Pride Over Pity will be released in April 2014.
