Celebs React to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Shocking Death

When Philip Seymour Hoffman's death was reported and confirmed on Sunday, February 2, numerous celebrities express their shocked feelings and praised Hoffman as an incredible actor. The actor, 46, was found dead in his New York apartment.

His family has already issued a statement regarding his death and said that it was both devastating and tragic. They also thanked all the people who have expressed sorrow over the actor's death.

Here are some of the reactions of celebrities, who took to Twitter to express their sorrow:

Mia Farrow tweeted: "OH NO!!!!! Philip Seymour Hoffman has died. A truly kind, wonderful man and one of our greatest actors - ever."

Ellen De Generes also took to Twitter and said: "Philip Seymour Hoffman was a brilliant, talented man. The news this morning is shocking and sad. My heart goes out to his loved ones."

Jim Carrey said: "Dear Philip, a beautiful beautiful soul. For the most sensitive among us the noise can be too much. Bless your heart."

Whoopi Goldberg even hoped that it was just a celebrity death hoax but later found out that it wasn't. "WTF (sic)!!!!philip-seymour-hoffman-found-dead-in-his-apartment, a truly great actor... Gone.. I hope someone says hey whoop it's a hoax..R.I.P.

"I see that it's not a hoax PSH is dead condolences to his family."

In a tweet, Anna Kendrick stated: "Philip Seymour Hoffman. Unbearably, shockingly, deeply sad. Words fail to describe his life and our loss."

"Love and prayers for Philip Seymour Hoffman's family. Addiction kills, I hope all who need it have access to abstinence based recovery," tweeted Katy Perry's ex-husband Russell Brand.

50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan also expressed his sadness: "Simply rotten news about Philip Seymour Hoffman. Stunning actor, and by all accounts a wonderful man. Thoughts are with his loved ones."

Justin Timberlake said that his death was a devastating loss. "Just hearing about Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Devastating. What an amazingly gifted actor. RIP," the singer tweeted.

Val Kilmer addressed the drug aspect of his fellow actor's death and said:  "Blu (sic) day, Philip Seymour Hoffman od'd (overdosed). Addiction comes fr (from) trying to escape the pain of living. We all struggle with this but Drugs never help.
