Justin Bieber Held In Custody At New Jersey Airport As Private Jet Was Searched For Drugs
Justin Bieber just can't seem to stay out of trouble. Just days after being arrested in Miami for DUI, Bieber found himself being held in custody at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport as his chartered jet was searched for drugs.
After arriving in New Jersey at 2:53 p.m. on Friday from Toronto, where he was charged with assaulting a limo driver on Dec. 30, 2013, Bieber was taken into federal custody as drug-sniffing dogs entered and searched the private jet he came in on.
According to reports, Bieber, his father Jeremy, and ten other friends were on board the plane, which allegedly reeked of pot.
"He came in, the jet smelled like weed, they were doing preliminary security checks that they don't usually do as Teterboro is usually pretty relaxed, but because of the Super Bowl they're doing more security checks," a Teterboro source told Page Six. "There was a big stir at the airport."
During the search, one of the canines signaled that there was marijuana in two pieces of luggage but no cannabis was found and Bieber and his crew were released.
An airport source claimed that the pilot may have tipped off cops about the reported pot smoking on board because Customs was waiting when Bieber touched down.
Later that same night, Bieber and his friends attended a Super Bowl party at the Four Seasons Hotel on East 57th Street.
Customs has not yet commented on the Teterboro incident.
In other Bieber news, the pop star's close friend and roommate Lil Za has been charged with three felonies, stemming from a police raid on Jan. 14, 2014. On Friday, TMZ reported that Za was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance (MDMA and Oxycodone) and another felony for breaking the jail phone.
