Brooke Burke-Charvet On Plastic Surgery, Life In Her 40s And Divorce
Brooke Burke-Charvet has been in the entertainment industry since 1999 when she landed a hosting job with E!, but fortunately, she hasn't let the pressures of Hollywood get to her. While some resort to surgery to keep up with Hollywood's young stars, Burke-Charvet prefers a more natural look, and at 42-years-old is more confident than ever.
"If a woman has done a bit of work, you should never know," Burke-Charvet tells New You in the spring issue. "Women who do too much scare me. I'm glad it scares me. I was married to a plastic surgeon, so I've seen it all."
Although Burke-Charvet did recently go under the knife, her looks weren't the issue. On Nov. 8, 2012, Burke-Charvet announced she would be having thyroid cancer that would leave her with a scar across her neck.
"[My] 40s started out a little bit rough because there have been some life issues, but physically I feel better today than I did in my 30s," said Burke-Charvet. "I know myself better. I have boundaries, a louder voice and I know myself as a woman. I know my body better, how to dress my body and I have a better sense of style. I am also more experienced. I feel more accomplished because I have a family and I'm very lucky to be in a loving marriage with a man that I'm in love with and he's in love with me and that's like amazing, so in that I find beauty."
Prior to her relationship with her current husband, David Charvet, Burke-Charvet was married to Garth Fisher, the father of her two daughters, Sierra Sky and Neriah, but the pair split in 2005 after seven years together. While the divorce was what was best for the pair at the time, Brooke-Charvet hates that her kids had to live through it.
"I regret having a marriage that didn't work, because divorce is 'forever' for children," she said. "I regret that my two oldest daughters have to grow up knowing that sometimes a family falls apart. That's my heartbreaking life lesson. But I'm happy that they can see love now."
After her divorce, Brooke Charvet and David Charvet met and fell in love. Then, on Aug. 12, 2011, after welcoming to kids together, daughter Heaven Rain in 2007 and son Shaya Braven in 2008, the pair tied the knot.
