Heidi Klum Talks About Fitness Over 40

Heidi Klum may be 40-years-old, but her body still looks as good as it did when she first burst onto the scene as a 20-something model. However, she doesn't work out as much as one might think, and in the new issue of Women's Health, Klum is revealing that it isn't always hard to make time for exercise.

“I have a treadmill that’s really great, but it just sits there unused,” Klum admitted to the magazine. “It looks nice, but I don’t have time to use it.”

With a busy career, modeling and judging on America's Got Talent, and caring for her four kids, Klum simply doesn't have time for regular workouts. Instead, she opts for outdoor activities, such as bike rides and walks on the beach, which allow her to work on her fitness and her children to have fun.

As she has aged, Klum has found that staying in shape is becoming progressively harder, so being consistent with her fitness plan is necessary. “The metabolism definitely changes when you turn 40. I always thought, ‘That’s not going to happen to me,’ but it is happening to me," Klum explained. "If I indulge more, I have to exercise more. I figured out what works for me.”

Also in the magazine, Klum touched on her collection of affordable workout gear for New Balance.

“I’m not trying to reinvent the running shoe; that’s what [New Balance] does. I just push the envelope with the color or the pattern, like this digital print that was inspired by a flower but has a kaleidoscopic effect,” she said of her spring collaboration with the brand. “They didn’t ask me to come on board to do a black legging.”
