Zac Efron appeared on The Today Show earlier this morning to promote his new flick, That Awkward Moment. During his visit, Efron was asked about how he's doing post-rehab.

"I'm in the best place that I've ever been in," Efron replied. "I've never been this happy before. I'm extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie. Things are good. Thank you for asking."

Last month Efron surfaced at a Los Angeles Lakers game where he proudly wore a blue Alcoholics Anonymous key tag around his neck, which represents six months of sobriety. His appearance followed rumors that he relapsed after an odd fall at his Los Angeles home which resulted in Efron breaking his jaw.

Efron, who made it big with his role on High School Musical, secretly entered rehab last spring after his alcohol and cocaine issues reportedly became too much for him to handle. Months later, it was also said that Efron had been struggling with an addiction to Molly, or Ecstasy.

"He's had to go from being a party boy to being completely sober," an Efron pal told Us Weekly in September 2013, following the news of his spring 2013 rehab visit. "It's going to take time, but he's handling it well."

"He realized he needed outside help," a friend explained in a second Us Weekly publication, also in September. "He reached out for it and is doing great now."

Efron is "doing really great professionally," the source continued. "He's in a good place. He's clean and he's happy."

A second friend added, "He just needed to find himself. His real friends started to worry about him."
