Jackie Kennedy’s Younger Sister Doesn't Want Her Name Tied To 'The Real Housewives Of New York'
The Real Housewives of New York star Carole Radziwill is facing a family feud. According to a new report, her mother-in-law, Lee Radziwill, the younger sister of Jackie Kennedy Onasis, is "mortified" that her family name is being dragged through the mud on the show.
Lee "guards her privacy with a vengeance and has expressed her disappointment that Carole used the Radzwill name on The Real Housewives of New York," a source told Radar Online. "It's just tacky. Lee believes Tony never would have wanted Carole to be a part of reality television and she can't quite grasp why anyone would want to be a on a television show with women fighting and getting drunk. Fortunately, she lives in Paris and that puts some distance between her and the sensational headlines."
Prior to his death in 1999, Carole was married to the only son of Lee, Anthony Radziwill, for five years, and although Carole still carries the Radziwill name, she doesn't think of herself as a Kennedy and has never used the famous family name to draw attention to her role on The Real Housewives of New York.
"I don't consider myself part of the Kennedy family," she said in an 2012 interview. "I never call myself a Kennedy cousin. In fact, when I signed my contract with Bravo, I made it very clear that they were not allowed in promos to refer to me as a Kennedy cousin. I'm not that person. I don't feel it."
Carole also spoke out about Lee, in particular, and discussed what she would think of her gig on the show.
"I don't see her as much as I'd like. The thing about Lee is that not only is she an unbelievably beautiful woman, she's one of the most curious women I've ever met," Carole said. "I don't think she would understand reality TV, but if you look at her life, she was always doing something interesting and different. She was a decorator, she was even an actress on stage for a while, she worked in fashion, she had so many different interests and lives and careers. So I think she would be bemused."
The Real Housewives of New York season six premieres on Mar. 11 at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
