'Bering Sea Gold' Star Shawn Pomrenke Arrested, Charged With DUI
Bering Sea Gold star Shawn Pomrenke was busted for DUI last month in Alaska after cops caught him speeding and driving recklessly down the highway. During the traffic stop, Pomrenke took a breathalyzer which revealed he was nearly twice the legal limit.
"Shawn was barreling down the highway at 102 MPH ... switching lanes without signaling," TMZ reported, adding that according to the police report, Pomrenke, who co-owns the largest gold dredge on the show, blew a .156 during the stop.
Following Pomrenke's arrest, Anchorage cops impounded his vehicle after discovering that the car had no Ignition Interlock Device installed, which Pomrenke was ordered to drive with following a DUI charge in December of last year. The device, which is often required for those who have been charged with DUI, works like a Breathalyzer and will restrict a car from starting if its driver is above the legal limit.
During last year's DUI arrest, Pomrenke was charged with four counts, including DUI, failing to return to the scene of an accident, driving without insurance and assault in the third degree, after he allegedly hit a pedestrian in a grocery store parking lot and then drove off, "smiling and giving a thumbs up." At the time, Pomrenke registered a blood alcohol level of .125 and informed police that he had no car insurance.
After appearing in court to address his latest legal run-in, the reality star was sentenced to 180 days but served less than 2 weeks.
Bering Sea Gold is currently in its third season, which airs every Friday night at 10 p.m. on Discovery Channel.
