Julie Walters’s ten-year menopause is over
Julie Walters is thankful that her 10-year battle with menopause is over.
The 63-year-old actress said she had as much as 15 hot flushes a night during her struggle with menopause. She also revealed that she feels "liberated" now that it is over and that it is a "huge relief" for her. Menopause marks the end of the fertile phase in a woman's life.
''It's liberating to be out of the rat race that life is, it's a huge relief - both going through it and coming out the other side," the Harry Potter actress shared, according to the Daily Mail.
She said that what was difficult for her was the fact that she had a lot of things to deal with. ''It's different when you're going through it because you have things you have to deal with, but that's life and every so often you have to address things and deal with them the best you can. If you deal with it in a healthy fashion then I think you come out the other side a better person," she added.
Walters played the role of Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. She said it was sometimes difficult to film some scenes because she was tired from not getting enough sleep because of her hot flushes. She said to MailOnline: ''The worst aspect for me were the hot flushes and not being able to sleep - my sleep has always been a bit fragile but it was very bad through that time and trying to work at the same time."
She even recalled an instance when the crew had "to turn the air conditioning onto her."
"I used to get so hot with all the padding and the wig and everything,'' she added.
Now, that her struggle with menopause is over she said that she has "much more energy now" than she ever had before the menopause.
