Katie Couric Talk Show Canceled
Katie Couric’s talk show, Katie, has been canceled after two seasons.
Disney/ABC released a statement on Thursday about the fate of the talk show featuring the former news anchor. The enterprise and Couric insisted that it was a mutual decision for all parties.
“We’re very proud of everyone’s contributions to making Katie the No. 1 new syndicated talk show of 2012-13, “the distributor and star said in a statement, “and we look forward to the rest of the season.”
Couric took to Twitter to thank all those who supported her and the show.
Incredibly proud of what we've accomplished with @KatieShow. Many thanks to my talented, hard-working staff & still so much to look fwd to!

The decision to end the show has been speculated for months especially after Couric signed with Yahoo for a reported $6 million. She will be a global anchor. In August, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the two year old talk show could be canceled. The fledging chat fest has been plagued by soft ratings, a large budget and internal fighting. Stations are contracted to air Katie through the summer of 2014 but renewal for a third season by Disney/ABCTV seemed unlikely.
The show originally had a budget of $50 million which has been brought down to $35. However, many stations have complained that there has not been enough investment on the hype.
