The project originally had a release date of summer, but was delayed. In August, Brown concerned his fans when he said that the disc could potentially be his last offering.
"Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album,” he wrote.
Brown has released a series of songs to promote the album during the various push backs. Fine China and Love More are just two of the tracks. He has said that he wanted to focus more on R&B rather than the current trends of EDM.
"I wanted to touch musically on Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke," Brown told Billboard, "and incorporate those influences with the new."
The focus on Brown’s music is one that he would like to continue. He told JET magazine that he was tired of the media refusing to let his accomplishments be recognized. Brown opened up about his professional and personal struggles since he assaulted Rihanna in 2009. He was placed on four years probation and community service. He avoided jail time, but has faced scrutiny since then. The 24-year-old singer told the Oct. 14 issue of the publication that he felt the media was out to get him.
