Drake: 'Nothing Was The Same' Rapper Says Mother Is Most Important Person In Life
Drake has opened up about how much his mother has inspired him and how she had an issue with one of the songs from his latest album, The Huffington Post reported Thursday.
Drake released his album, Nothing Was the Same, this week. The disc is expected to sell over 675K which would make it the second highest debut of the year behind Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience bow in March. It was been a whirlwind of success for the 26-year-old rapper who won a Grammy last year for the album Take Care. He gave a lot of the credit of his success to his mother.
"My mother is an incredible woman. I talk about her a lot on this album. She's brought me to this point single-handedly," Drake said, smiling. "She's the most important person in my life."
He revealed where his mother kept his Grammy.
"It's in her kitchen now. One day she's going to put some shelves up in her house and start displaying some stuff," he added.
Drake also discussed what buyers could expect from his latest offering. He wanted the 13 track disc to be "leaner" as opposed to his earlier works. Take Care featured 20 songs.
"(Back then) I wanted to give people as much as I could. I felt like I've been away for a while, and they deserved as much music as possible. It ended up being like a 20-song project," he said.
