Miley Cyrus on Mentoring Justin Bieber: 'People Don't Take Him Seriously'
Miley Cyrus believes that she serves as a mentor to fellow artist, Justin Bieber, Us Weekly reported Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Wrecking Ball singer gave a very revealing interview to Rolling Stone for their October issue. She claimed that the 19-year old Baby singer could learn from her.
I'm not that much older than him, so I never want it to feel like I'm mentoring him," she said."But I do mentor him in a way. Because I've been doing this sh-t for a long time, and I already transitioned, and I don't think he's quite done it yet."
Cyrus did not believe that Bieber had yet escaped from a cloud of ridicule. She felt that he was not considered a real artist despite his efforts.
"He's trying really hard," she said. "People don't take him seriously, but he really can play the drums, he really can play the guitar, he really can sing. I just don't want to see him f--k that up, to where people think he's Vanilla Ice. I tell him that."
Cyrus also felt that the teen sensation did not have the mental maturity to prove his detractors wrong. She cited his age as a reason why he has not handled himself better in the public eye.
"I think boys are, like, seven years behind," she said with a laugh. "So in his head, he's really, like, 12."
