Bruce Jenner has shared that he has skin cancer, PEOPLE reported Friday.
Jenner told E! that he had surgery on Monday . The 63-year-old Olympian had cancerous tissue removed from his nose. It required 30 stitches. Jenner has been photograghed with a bandage across the bridge of his nose and a baseball cap. Those measures were most likely to shield his face from the sun.

"I was diagnosed with a form of Melanoma called Basal cell carcinoma and have undergone Mohs surgery to remove it," Jenner told the website. "I have been struggling with this for several years and appreciate all of the support and prayers while I continue to fight the battle against skin cancer."
Jenner was previously stricken by the disease in January 2012. He was seen with a scar on the side of his face. He has encouraged others to get checked out and remain vigilant about their health.
"This has taught me to be extra vigilant when out in the sun and I encourage others to get regular checkups and always wear sunscreen," Jenner said.
A source close to the family said that Jenner was expected to make a full recovery.
