Miley Cyrus Defends MTV VMA Performance to Britney Spears [VIDEO]
Miley Cyrus has defended her MTV VMA performance to Britney Spears, US Weekly reported Thursday.
To promote her upcoming album, Bangerz, Cyrus will have a documentary featured on MTV that is set to air Oct. 10. Miley: The Movement will be a behind the scenes foray leading up to the release of the album. A preview was released to the media that showed Cyrus discussing her now infamous VMA performance with the Work Bitch singer.
Cyrus came under controversy for twerking on Robin Thicke and shoving her behind in his face. In the clip, Cyrus did not understand why there was so much backlash for her performance and explained as much to Spears. The two are in the studio and are collaborators on the song SMS for Cyrus' album.
"Everyone takes the VMAs so serious," Cyrus said. "I just wanna come out and shoot a hot dog gun," the former Hannah Montana star says as Spears giggles. "I just wanna have fun!"
Spears lent a supportive ear to her fellow Disney album as she continued to speak.
"You're always gonna make people talk. You might as well make them talk for like, two weeks, rather than two seconds," Cyrus said.
Cyrus once again took on an unapologetic about her new persona.
"I was born to become who I am right now," Cyrus said. "Right now I'm in a point in my career where I'm exactly what I wanna be, who I wanna be . . .I'm starting as a new artist now."
