Sandra Bullock's life has changed and she has learned to be less selfish, PEOPLE reported Wednesday.

The Gravity actress has been promoting her movie where she plays a medical engineer. On press junket in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the Oscar winner said that her most important role was that of mom. She adopted three year old Louis in 2010.

"I can't selfishly take journeys anymore because I have to take a little boy along with me," she said.

The 49-year-old said that one of the conditions for her starring in the film is if they made it an amazing experience for the little boy. She wanted him to have just as much fun as her.

"I said ... make it so I'm not somewhere not paying attention because I'm so worried about 'Where is he? Is he having fun? Is this a good life experience?' " she said.

Bullock also revealed that the cast and crew helped to make the set experience a worthwhile one for Louis.  They also ensured that the set would be child proof.

"[Producer] David [Heyman] turned a backlot of a sound stage in rainy London into a wonderland for a 1½-year-old," Bullock said. "Everything was bumper guarded! People go, 'What is that?' And I go, 'That is to protect a child's head! All of it!' "
