Prince William will be leaving the military to focus on being a full time royal, E! News reported Thursday.

The palace announced on September 12 that Prince William would leave the Royal Air Force where he has served for the past seven years. His new commitments will be towards charity and performing his royal duties. The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will be of keen interest to the 31-year-old over the next twelve months.  It was stated that Prince William wanted to expand his work in conservation, in particular endangered animals.

"The Duke will continue to work with his charities on issues relating to children and young people, veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces," the statement read. "The Duke is currently considering a number of options for public service, a further announcement on which will follow in due course."

Prince William's last day of service was Tuesday. He had been involved in 156 search-and-rescue operations which resulted in 149 stricken people being pulled to safety.  He had been a search and rescue pilot since January 2010.

The statement also continued that Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and their son, Prince George, would move into Kensington Palace.
