George Zimmerman's Wife Says He Is 'Selfish,' Feels 'Invincible'
George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, filed for divorce this week and she gave an exclusive interview to ABC on Friday detailing that he was selfish and felt invincible.
Shellie stood by George's side as he was arrested for the murder of Trayvon Martin in February 2012. The former neighborhood watchman followed the unarmed black teenager and fatally shot him. A trial ensued and he was acquitted in the death of the 17-year-old in July. Shellie felt that her support for George, which included her being charged with perjury, was not appreciated by her soon to be ex-husband.
"I stood by my husband through everything and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I'm supposed to now assemble and make a life...It's just heartbreaking," she said.
The 26-year-old woman said that George was no longer an ideal spouse. She felt he was not considerate of her feelings.
"I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George," she said.
Shellie added that George was verbally abusive to her during the course of their seven year marriage.
"I think I'm realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don't think that I ever really knew him at all," Shellie Zimmerman said.
