'American Idol' Judges Confirmed for Season 13, Harry Connick Jr. Joins Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez
American Idol has confirmed its new judges for the 13th season, E Online reported Tuesday.
The new judges will be Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. Randy Jackson, who left the show in May, will return in a new capacity. He will be the in house mentor. Connick, who has previously appeared on the singing competition, said he was honored to join the Fox staple.
"I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show," Connick said in a statement. "And I am honored that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."
Jackson also released a statement to express his enthusiasm. He said that the original talent show would be returning to the airwaves with a vengeance.
"Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all," Jackson said. "Season 1-3 is the place to be.
Lopez teased her fans on Twitter about what was to come on the new season. She is also returning to the show she left in 2011. She was replaced by Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
