Katie Couric Engaged to John Molner
Katie Couric is engaged, PEOPLE reported Tuesday.
The TV host got engaged to her boyfriend, John Molner, 50, over the Labor Day weekend. She and the banker have been dating for nearly two years. A rep for Couric confirmed the engagement. Molner proposed ring at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y. to the 56-year-old.
This will be the second marriage for Couric. She was left a widow in 1998 after her husband Jay Monahan died of colon cancer. Couric dated other men since then, but had not settled down with one. She had been primarily focused on raising her daughters Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17.
"When the girls were really little, I always imagined I would be modern-day Carol Brady," Couric said in 2011.
For a time, she had given up on trying to find another spouse. She was resolute to being a single lady and was not forcing the issue.
"I used to worry a lot about the future. [But] who knows what it will bring?" she said. "Hopefully it will bring good things."
However, she took her romance with Molner public in 2012. She raved about him to the press.
"He's great. He's from Chicago. I love Midwesterners!" she said.
