Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones Marriage Ruined by Son Cameron?
Cameron Douglas played a role in the crumbling marriage of his father Michael Douglas and step-mother Catherine Zeta Jones, Radar Online reported Thursday.
Sources said that Michael and Zeta Jones were divided over Cameron who has battled drug addiction for many years. Michael's 34-year-old son with ex-wife Diandra Luke was arrested in 2010. He was accused of peddling meth and cocaine. He is imprisoned until 2018 after a judge added more years to his sentence for inappropriate behavior behind bars.
Cameron failed a drug test in January and his father was reportedly beside himself. However, Zeta Jones did not allegedly share the same level of worry.
"Cameron and Catherine never seemed to have a close relationship and i think Michael always felt she just didn't care for the situation. He probably felt there was little sympathy from her, toward him and Cameron," the source said.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Michael and Zeta Jones were separating after 13 years of marriage. Sources said that the past three years have dealt a blow to the marriage. During this time, Michael battled cancer. The 43-year-old actress has been open about her bout with bipolar II disorder. Earlier this year, she sought treatment once more for the condition.
"The stress has taken a toll on their marriage," a friend said.
