'Friends' Star Lisa Kudrow Joins 'Scandal' for Season 3

Friends alum Lisa Kudrow is joining Scandal during its third season for a guest starring arc according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kudrow will play a politician in the ABC drama series. Her character name and storyline have not yet been released. The casting marks a dramatic return to the small screen for Kudrow. She rose to fame in the 1990's as Phoebe on the hit NBC series Friends. Her run on the iconic sitcom lasted 10 years. Since then, she has appeared on such shows as Easy A and The Other Woman.

Earlier in the month, Shonda Rimes teased what was to come for the ABC drama she created and that has turned into a phenomenon.  She said that 22 minutes would have passed since the season finale in May. It was revealed that Rowan was Olivia Pope's father. It was also be revealed who outted Olivia and Fitz's affair and the President's re-election will also be a focus.

"We're going to head in that direction, but I don't know if we're going to get there in the first half of the season," Rhimes said. "But we are heading in that direction. It's a big deal. We're at the timeline where that starts to be an issue.
