'Young and the Restless' Star Melody Thomas Scott Teases Upcoming Nikki Newman Storyline
Melody Thomas Scott has teased that September will be the month of Nikki Newman because she will be on screen so much in an interview with On Air Soaps that was published Monday.
Scott has played her iconic character on the Young and the Restless for more than thirty years. She has been one of the show's leading ladies but her storyline has been sparse in the past few months. The actress said that the on screen death of Katherine Chancellor, following the real life death of Jeanne Cooper in May, would send Nikki back to the front burner.
Katherine has left Nikki a series of letters that have to do with the former stripper's past. The actress described how she played Nikki reacted to the letter.
"Uncertainty, shock, ambiguity, unwillingness, yet knows deep down that she should do what Katherine is suggesting. It's a topic that Nikki probably felt would never be discussed, or dealt with in her lifetime," Scott said.
Scott would not offer many details about what her new storyline would entail. However, she spoke with enthusiasm about the material. She could not thank the writing and directing staff enough.
"That's all you need; good actors performing a good script, and our fabulous new directing team, and I love them all. I have not been this happy at work in a while," she said.
