Paula Deen Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Dismissed
A lawsuit accusing Paula Deen of racial discrimination was thrown out on Monday, TV Guide reported.
U.S. District judge William T. Moore Jr. said that Deen's former employee, Lisa Jackson, could not sue Deen and her brother for racial discrimiantino because she is white herself. The judge argued that Jackson "lacks standing to pursue racial discrimination claims because she does not allege that she suffered any discrimination based on her race".
Jackson also filed a sexual harassment suit against which is still pending but the racial element of the case led to the downfall of Deen's empire. She lost endorsement deals from such places as Target and Walmart. She was also fired from the Food Network.
"We are pleased with the Court's ruling today that Lisa Jackson's claims of race discrimination have been dismissed," a rep for Deen told Us Weekly. "As Ms. Deen has stated before, she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone."
Deen's ex-husband told Celebuzz that he expected his ex-wife to return to glory. The two share two sons, Jamie and Bobby.
"To those people that jumped on that bandwagon and only heard one side and not Paula's side are wrong," he added. "I hope Paula is big enough that she sits back and tells everyone 'I'm going to sit back before I tell you I'm going to come back.'"
