Leah Remini News: Shelly Miscavige Found, Church Of Scientology Blasts 'The King of Queens' Actress
Shelly Miscavige, the woman Leah Remini filed a missing person's report on has been located, TMZ reported Thursday.
The site reported that the LAPD had a face to face meeting with the spouse of David Miscavige, the head of Scientology. She had not been publicly seen in six years. It was also reported that the claims of her disappearance were said to be "unfounded".
A representative for Scientology blasted Remini on Friday for involving the police in the matter. The statement questioned her integrity and motives. The church felt they were the victims of a plot to undermine their organization.
"Sadly, rather than move on with her life and career, Ms. Remini has aligned herself with a handful of untrustworthy, lunatic tabloid sources who obsessively harass the Church to advance their selfish agendas," the statement read.
Previously, Remini confronted David about his wife's absence and was reportedly retaliated against. It led to her defecting from Scientology. She spoke of her reasoning in July for leaving the faith after being a part of it since she was a child.
"I believe that people should be able to question things. I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct," she said.
