'Man Of Steel' Recieves PG-13 Rating From MPAA
"Man Of Steel" got a PG-13 rating from the MPAA.
Earlier today, it was announced that Zack Snyder's Superman movie, "Man Of Steel," will receive a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America.
Synder repeatedly said that he has tried to make a more realistic, gritty and grounded version of Superman, but most film experts didn't expect "Man of Steel" to get anything more than a PG-13 rating, maybe an R. Almost all superhero movies, barring a few exceptions, have garnered at PG-13 rating from the MPAA, which is important because the target demographic for these films are usually teenagers and young adults, many of who fall in the PG-13 range.
Superman movies historically have gotten either a PG or a PG-13 rating. The only Superman film to get a PG-13 from the MPAA was "Superman Returns," the dud directed by Bryan Singer and starring Brandon Routh as Superman. Every Christopher Reeve-led Superman film managed to get a PG rating, but that was before the MPAA started to become stricter with their rating system.
According to the MPAA, here's why "Man of Steel" received a PG-13 ratings.
"'Man of Steel' is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction and for some language."
