‘Scream 5’ Cast Rumors: Neve Campbell Talks New Horror Film
It's been over a year since "Scream" fans heard any news about a fifth installment, and star Neve Campbell has finally broken the silence.
"Scream 4" hit theaters in April 2011 and was rumored to be the beginning of a new trilogy. However the future of the series was put in jeopardy when the film failed to take off in theaters. Despite a low box office turn-out, director Wes Craven still gave hope for a fifth film.
"Yes. The odds are that there will be (a 'Scream 5')," Craven said to Movie Web last September. "It is something that Bob Weinstein wants to do. He tends to do what he wants to do. So I am inclined to think that there will be (another sequel). Whether I will be a part of it or not? I don't know. My contract gives me the first look. If they show me something that is really wonderful? Of course I will be part of it."
Actress Neve Campbell seems to be singing a different tune about the movie though.
"We'll see," she told Collider of reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in a fifth film. "I'm not sure they're going to make it, to be honest. If that were to come up again and they were to approach me, I'd have a chat with them about it."
If a "Scream 5" was to happen, the details have been kept heavily under wraps. "We felt it was better to let the audience speculate than to have all of these clues placed in their lap," said Craven.
