Amanda Bynes Settlement: Actress Agrees To Deal In Two Hit-And-Run Cases
Amanda Bynes has reached a settlement in two hit-and-run cases.
The actress, best known for her roles on several Nickelodeon shows, was charged after allegedly leaving the scenes of two separate accidents in April and August. Bynes agreed to a financial settlement with the two victims, who told E! News that they had received "full satisfaction" in the case.
But while the victims were satisfied in this Amanda Bynes settlement, the Los Angeles City attorney was not happy that the actress got off so easily. According to TMZ, the attorney's office felt that she should have received a harsher punishment since she has shown a pattern of reckless driving habits. But the judge in this case overruled the prosecutors and allowed the settlement to go forward as planned.
If found guilty, Bynes could have faced up to six months in jail on each charge, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"Amanda is satisfied and grateful for this outcome of the case," her attorney, Richard Hutton, told E!.
Despite this settlement, Amanda Bynes still has other charges pending. According to E!, the actress still has a case pending related to charges of driving with a suspended license. She also was charged with DUI in connection with the April hit-and-run arrest, per Hollywood Reporter.
