Bret Easton Ellis Attacks Kathryn Bigelow In Twitter Rant, Says She's Overrated Because 'She's A Very Hot Woman'

Bret Easton Ellis holds no punches. Heck, every book he's ever written is in some way about how his characters hold no punches. That's why it should be no surprise the sharp-tounged author has once again taken to Twitter to voice his opinion about the latest Hollywood happenings.

"Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting filmmaker if she was a man," tweeted Bret Easton Ellis. "But since she's a very hot woman she's really overrated."

Bigelow is perhaps best known for her gritty film about the Iraq War, "The Hurt Locker," for which she won a Best Director Academy Award in 2010. The same screenwriter, Mark Boal, writes Bigelow's upcoming movie "Zero Dark Thirty," and the movie focuses on American politics again. This time, her story will focus on the raid of Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. The film is getting rave reviews and is expected to be an Oscar favorite already.

Bret Easton Ellis has been extremely critical of Hollywood peers in the past, despite the fact that he's never won an Academy Award and has not written anything monumental in the past two decades. His most famous story, "American Pyscho" was known for pushing many boundaries, but Brett Easton Ellis has never been able to rouse critics as well in his follow ups.

Bret Easton Ellis, who was already a polarizing figure, has become even more polarizing since joining Twitter. The author frequently uses the service as a platform to voice his problems with Hollywood politics. He famously decried the hiring of Kelly Marcel to pen the screenplay of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

"Kelly Marcel?!? KELLY MARCEL?!? Kelly Marcel is WRITING the script for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'?!? THIS is the movie they want to make? ARGH," tweeted Brett Easton Ellis.

"Kelly Marcel: the creator of (gulp) 'Terra Nova' and a Mary Poppins bio-pic has been blessed by EL James and no one can stop her. Dear God," he added.

Bret Easton Ellis has frequently used Twitter to stir the pot. The notorious author has said so many outrageous things on Twitter that the Huffington Post published a lengthy article titled "Why We're Unfollowing Bret Easton Ellis." Here's what the books editor at The Huffington Post said:

Last year, he compared watching TV show Glee to "stepping in a puddle of HIV." Last month, he said on Twitter that an actor was too openly gay to play a heterosexual character. In July he called an unpopular figure "a complete and total old-school fucking Hollywood loser."When JD Salinger died, he tweeted "Yeah!! Thank God he's finally dead. I've been waiting for this day for-fucking-ever. Party tonight!!!" Today he called David Foster Wallace (who didn't like Easton Ellis's work either) "the most tedious, overrated, tortured, pretentious writer of my generation."

It appears that Bret Easton Ellis' latest gaffe has lost him even more followers. "Anyone Unfollowing me should have known better and never Followed me in the first place. Wise up: pussies and snowflakes. Get the F over it," tweeted Ellis.
