Tom Yorke Confirms 'Atoms For Peace' Album
It's the news we've all been waiting for. Thom Yorke finally announce his upcoming album with "Atoms for Peace," the band he assembled to perform his solo album "The Eraser." The new record is called "Amok," and it won't be released until late February 2013.
"Atoms for Peace" is Nigel Godrich, the Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Joey Waronker, percussionist Mauro Refosco and Thom Yorke, who made the announcement on the Radiohead website.
"So finally I can tell you the Atoms for Peace record is coming out on the 25th February, it's called Amok," he wrote.
Unfortunately for those counting on a January release date, it turns out the album won't be released until February 25th in the UK and the 26h in the US through XL Recordings.
"Atom's For Peace" has been touring for most of 2012, and Yorke promised even more shows in 2013:
I'm still reeling from being on tour for much of the year but we are planning to get together and play etc next year! We're figuring all that out right now. Atoms is a ongoing and open ended project, where it leads i know not for certain .... which is what is nice about it.
In an interview with "Rolling Stone," Yokre and Goldrich explain the band's "creative process."
"We were at Flea's house," Yorke said. "We got wasted, played pool and listened to Fela Kuti all night."
Yorke also shared a new band website. For now it's just a cool picture, which Pitchfork describes as "Los Angeles on fire/being flooded, probably created by longtime Radiohead visual collaborator Stanley Donwood." https://pitchfork.com/news/48487-thom-yorkes-atoms-for-peace-detail-new-album/
