Hope Solo Married: Pregnancy Rumors Swirl After Soccer Star Weds Jerramy Stevens Following His Arrest
Two-time Olympic gold-medal soccer player Hope Solo married her football fiance Jerramy Stevens on Tuesday evening, right after Stevens was released from police custody because he allegedly roughed up Solo and her brother.
Though the U.S. soccer player has never had a soft-spoken personality, fans are still puzzled about why she would rush into a marriage with a man who reportedly gave her a scraped elbow, and her brother a black eye and bloody knee. Solo's friends and teammates are keeping mum, but soccer-obsessed Americans are wondering if there's a chance there's a baby on the way.
U.S. national soccer team keeper Jillian Loyden wouldn't talk. All she said "Happy to witness such an amazing celebration of real love #selflesslove #fewandfarbetween" via Twitter. But it is believed that more information will come out in the days ahead.
The former Seahawks tight end was arrested on Monday after Solo's brother, Marcus Solo, called authorities. According to the police, Solo and her brother explained that "two or three" strangers crashed a party and began an altercation.
Stevens, who was selected by his hometown Seattle Seahawks in the 2002 NFL Draft, saw a promising career disintegrate after being arrested multiple times for second-degree assault, sexual assault, marijuana possession and reckless driving, among other citations.
Trouble is nothing new for Stevens. At River Ridge High School in Washington, he and another student reportedly beat a schoolmate over the head with a baseball bat. Solo, a former contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," isn't a stranger to controversy either.
In 2007, she became furious when her coach benched her for the FIFA Women's World Cup. In an interview after the match, she lashed out at him. "It was the wrong decision, and I think anybody that knows anything about the game knows that. There's no doubt in my mind I would have made those saves," she said. "And the fact of the matter is it's not 2004 anymore."
Then, after the winning the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, she admitted that she and teammateswent on the "Today" show drunk to do their interview. The behavior, which was considered immature and irresponsible at the time, got Solo headlines - but not for the right reasons.
