'Born To Die' 'Paradise Edition:' Lana Del Rey's 8 Craziest New Songs [NSFW VIDEO]

By Anthony Smith | Nov 13, 2012 02:37 PM EST

"Born To Die: Paradise Edition," by Lana Del Rey was released today on iTunes, with a whopping 23 songs-- including 15 songs we've heard before off the previous release of Born To Die, and 8 new songs specific to the Paradise Edition.

What do all eight new songs have in common? If we are to take Lana Del Rey's caricature of womanhood literally, then we should be outraged by her argument for depth of sentiment and sensitivity achieved only through hypersexuality and old-fashioned feminine fragility. Lana Del Rey lives in a world where roses are all petals and no thorns, and in many ways, this album serves as a literal invitation into that world. What we learn about whether or not we choose to stay there is up to us.

Of the 8 new songs on Lana Del Rey's Paradise Edition of Born to Die, here are the 8 most insane songs.

8. "Blue Velvet"

It's not technically Lana's song, but any song that evokes Blue Velvet, David Lynch's seminal proto-rapegaze masterpiece, deserves a spot on the list on insane songs.

7. "Burning Desire"

So many of the songs on the new album must have been inspired by Jack Kerouac, because this album is very roadtrippy. Burning Desire sees Lana Del Rey taking to the road and putting her hands in inappropriate places.

6. "American"

"American" sees Lana Del Rey defining American Exceptionalism as a bunch of sexual coos.

5. "Yayo"

Lana compares young love to coke addiction. Unfortunately, it's neither bold enough nor groundbreaking enough (Total Eclipse of the Heart, anyone?)

4. "Bel Air"

This song is so crazy because it's not obviously about sex, which means that Lana Del Rey, like a naughty semiotician, has hidden it somewhere, and it must be dirtier than anyone could've ever imagined.

3. "Gods And Monsters"

"Like a groupie incognito / Posing as a real singer / Life imitates art." -LDR 2016

2. "Cola"

"My p***y tastes like pepsi cola / My eyes are wide like cherry pies // I gots a taste for men who older / It's always been so it's no surprise," informs Lana Del Rey, in case anyone was wondering.

1. "Ride"

Even if this song isn't the most inappropriate, the video for it sure is.
