‘The Office’ Season 9 Spoilers: Hurting Marriages, The Taliban, And Con Man Clark In ‘Roy’s Wedding’

On Thursday night "The Office" fans had a chance to see an event that they believed would never happen...Pam's ex-fiance Roy's wedding!

It's a weekday at 8 a.m. (because that's a normal time to hold a wedding), and half the Dunder Mifflin office is out witnessing Roy, now the owner of a successful gravel company, marry the girl of his dreams.

Obviously an awkward event for Pam and Jim since Pam, who was initially engaged to Roy years ago, dumped him before the wedding for Jim. While initially starting the day off with snide remarks like "they're probably serving hot dogs," Jim and Pam quickly realize that Roy is leading a drastically different life from them. Now in a huge home thanks to his start-up company, the previously hot headed warehouse worker who almost punched Jim, is now only guilty of loving his new wife... and lying about taking boxing classes when he was really learning piano to sing to her on their wedding day.

Overall it was a quick wedding, filled with Phyllis and Bob Vance PDA, and a thank you from Roy to Jim, ("If it wasn't for you I never would have met Laura"). Although Roy's wedding wasn't as awkward as Jim and Pam imagined it to be, the event opened up their eyes to problems in their marriage that were hinted at last weekend.

While definitely filled with laughs, the latest episode however drives home the point that this really is the final season. Although wrapping up story lines from earlier seasons (like whatever happened to Roy), season eight has so far failed to take on an interesting life of its own.

From the start of season one, viewers have seen Pam and Jim's love for each other grow. Now with marital problems entering the mix it just seems like "The Office" is pushing it. The rest of the second episode had the couple trying to find out something they don't know about each other, and while Pam couldn't think of one thing that Jim didn't know, Jim held onto his big secret -- that despite Pam telling him no, he started a business with his college friend. If the two needed to spice up their relationship then Jim's start-up definitely looks like it could do the trick.

The rest of "The Office" cast seemed to hide behind Pam and Jim's storyline. Nellie, who is still lurking around the office, started up a give back to charity project, but finds herself facing a problem when Dwight says that the only way he would participate is if his charity is the Taliban. While someone would assume that storyline would be hilarious, it failed to take off...partially because Dwight seems to have evolved over the years. Nellie makes Dwight sign to abide by Taliban law in the office, and steels one his pens. Her reasoning is that he must either change his charity organization or chop off her hand. The old Dwight would have swiftly moved for the blade, but new Dwight just couldn't bring himself to do it. Instead the two ended up staying in the office long after everyone left to watch James Franco's "127 Hours."

As for new guys Clark and Pete, they seem to be bringing out the Michael Scott in Andy.  Clark breaks out his inner con man to lure Erin into coming over his house and auditioning for the role of a newscaster. Of course gullible Erin doesn't realize it, but Clark is just being a creep, and using a newscaster position as an excuse to film her in low cut tops.
Clark's evening with Erin (he lit candles and had music playing) doesn't go as planned though when Pete and Andy tag along, Pete for makeup and Andy as the second newscaster. Even though a setup the night was for Erin, but just like Michael Scott, Andy somehow manages to take control of the whole thing. When Clark says he's done filming, Andy tells him to do a couple more takes of just him. When Eric tells Andy that she's hungry, Andy, oblivious to the new guys pining over Erin, tells Pete to take her to get a burger.
