Atlanta Falcons' Michael Turner Arrested For DUI After Monday Night Football Win
Mere hours after rushing for 42 yards and a touchdown on Monday Night Football, Atlanta Falcons runningback Michael Turner was charged with a DUI. It seems like he was celebrating teams victory a little too much.
After the Atlanta Falcons beat the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football on ESPN, Michael Turner was arrested and charge with driving under the influence of alcohol in Gwinnett Count, Ga.
According to the report, Turner was book into the country jail at 5 a.m.
Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith went on SIRIUS NFL Radio to discuss Turner...kind of. "We're aware of the situation with Michael, but it's really not appropriate to comment on it...We'll keep the communication internal with myself and Michael, and we'll deal with it as it progresses."
Turner is in the fifth year of a six-year, $34 million dollar contract he signed with Atlanta in the 2008 offseason. Before that, Turner backed up legendary Chargers runningback Ladainian Tomlinson. Turner has gone to the Pro Bowl twice, in 2008 and 2012, and has scored a franchise-record 51 rushing touchdown.
Turner, a key player in the Falcons offense, might be facing penalties from the NFL and Roger Goddell, but, he might wait until after legal proceedings are finished, as he has in the past. Earlier last summer, in July, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was charged with driving under the influence in California. However, Lynch has yet to actually be fined or penalized in any way by the NFL or his team.
