Christian Bale Visits Aurora, Colorado Shooting Victims
"The Dark Knight Rises" star Christian Bale paid a visit to the surviving victims of the Aurora, Colo., shooting on Tuesday.
"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications, told the Denver Post.
After the senseless massacre, which claimed the lives of 12, including a six-year-old girl, Bale released a sorrowful statement."Words cannot express the horror that I feel," he said. "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Bale's co-star, Anne Hathaway, also extended her condolences to the grieving families.
"My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act," she expressed. "I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."
"This is not a person that gets in bar fights and hurts other people," Psychologist Dr. Stevan Hobfoll, a professor of behavioral sciences at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago told ABC news regarding the gunman, James Holmes, 24. "They're more likely to make statements about how they're going to get people. Those people are going to see they'll know who he is, and they'll be sorry."
"In general, these people tend to be socially inept and alienated from the mainstream," said Dr. Felipe Amunategui, an associate training director for child and adolescent psychiatry at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland.
